(Cont'd)
There were palm
trees, soft sand, gentle sunlight, crashing waves and happy
people (yes, in swimwear). We had arrived. I felt light, joyful
and grateful. My efforts had been rewarded. I woke up shortly
after that wondering ‘What was that about?’
The thought that came to me was “Persistence
pays”. In life, when we pursue our goals, our progress
might not always appear to make sense. It may seem like an indirect
path. It might even feel ‘off-base’.
It’s our commitment and perseverance
that deliver us to our destination goals. Often times, the evidence
of the ‘rightness’ of the path we’re on isn’t
always there. In my dream, a lot of people never made it to
the beach. I suspect they turned back grumbling, thinking they
had gotten bad directions or – worse yet – had been
cheated or lied to. Those of use who had the determination and
faith in our ‘beach’ got to celebrate the accomplishment
that others only wished for.
The coaching lesson? Trust yourself. Believe
in your goals and dreams and your ability to achieve them.
“Every
great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have
within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach
for the stars and change the world.”
