| We
are now almost a month into A Season for Nonviolence
– Compassionate Activism for Global Healing
(January 30 - April 4), a national 64-day educational,
media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating
that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform,
and empower our lives and our communities.
Inspired
by the 50th and 30th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma
Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this international
event honors their vision for an empowered, nonviolent
world. This annual celebration was co-founded and
convened by the Association for Global New Thought.

For
those of you who have heard me speak around
Phoenix about resolving conflict and dissolving
disputes, I am writing a book that outlines
the six keys and includes a conflict resolution
style model. The book will include exercises
to help you apply the six keys to current
conflicts in your life (or prepare you for
those inevitable, yet-to-happen, issues).
The conflict style model will help you understand
how you deal with conflict and also how to
deal more effectively with people who use
conflict resolution styles that are different
from yours. |
If you’ve heard my talk
on the subject, this book makes a great gift for
others you know who might be suffering with some
discord in their lives. It is also a great refresher
for the message you already heard. And if you’ve
never heard me talk about this at all, the book
is full of great (and hilarious) stories of strife
and tips on how to take charge in the midst of
it. The book will be published before the end
of March. You can reserve a copy (or more) at
the pre-publication price of $9.95. Once it’s
released, the price will be $14.95. Save
over 30%! Order it early here.
My
other book, Leadership that Transforms &
Delivers, is progressing nicely as well.
I’ve interviewed several leaders and people
they have influenced. But I need your help! I’m
looking for a few other people OUTSIDE OF ARIZONA
to feature in the book. I’m particularly
interested in people in the legal, real estate,
consumer goods and healthcare industries. If you
can think of someone who has inspired or touched
you with his or her leadership style (even if
it’s not in one of those industries), please
write
me with his/her name, email and/or phone number.
I’m
pleased to announce that I have been selected
as a Premier Coach for eWomenNetwork!, the #1
resource for connecting women and their businesses
across North America. You can see my profile at
www.ewomennetwork.com/coaches.html.

Finally,
for those Boomers out there who are wondering
what you'll do when you finally grow up, I’ll
be launching a new course called Too Young
to Retire. Stay tuned for those announcements.

Leadership That Transforms…& Delivers
- ASSESSMENT, LEARNING
& SUSTAINING IMPROVEMENTS |
 |
|
|
  |
|
We’ve
taken quite a journey through the components of
leadership. Now that we’ve “delivered”
on our vision, it’s time to step back and
assess how we did and harvest what we’ve
learned in the process. In order to continually
build on our successes, we have to incorporate
the insights we’ve gained into the very
fabric of the organization or business.
This
process starts out by comparing our results with
what was planned. What were our goals? How did
we do against the success metrics we established
at the outset? (We did set some didn’t we?)
What breakdowns did we encounter along the way
and how did we deal with them? What could we have
done to anticipate them or prevent them from happening
altogether?
Are
there processes that have been revealed as ineffective
given the organization’s vision and tasks
at hand? In an ideal world, how would the processes
work? What would it take to operate using to those
‘ideal world’ processes?
In
The e-Myth Revisited, Michael Gerber
talks about the importance of documenting processes
– creating an operations manual for every
task. (“Ugh!” you might be thinking
- but wait!)... (Click to Read More) >>> |

AVOIDING PROCRASTINATION
© 2006 Copyright: George Beshara,

One
of the main differences between highly successful
achievers and ordinary persons is that the high
achievers have mastered the art of avoiding procrastination,
while the ordinary persons have mastered the art
of procrastinating.
Procrastination
is a strange phenomenon. We know that we have
to get a number of things done. Some of these
things are usually things that we don't like doing
but are important if we want to succeed or feel
good about ourselves. A sales person may not really
like prospecting but must prospect in order to
make sales. A student may not feel like writing
that essay but must write it in order to pass
the course. A consultant may not feel like preparing
a complex proposal but must prepare it in order
to have a chance to secure the assignment. So
what is the behavior of individuals who are not
usually top achievers? They procrastinate; they
delay doing what they know they should be doing.
They start to feel guilty; they find excuses;
they get busy or pretend to be busy doing other
things; and they worry and feel stressed until
they really have no choice and get going with
the required task.
On
the other hand, top achievers would have usually
completed the unpleasant task as soon as possible.
So
what triggers procrastination?

PIP Tip |

Always
ask three questions:
1.
“How can we do this better?”
2.
“What’s the root cause of the
problem?”
3.
“How can we prevent that root cause
from happening in the future?”
